Monotonous.
Monotonous is an interactive design object that embodies the emotion of “monotonous” into action.
Monotony is an emotion that is appears one’s mind through repeating experiences over time, and creates a disconnection between the physical actions and the thinking processes. This object represents how monotony appears through the process of casting concrete with a modifiable mould.
Originally the process of molding focuses on the object that is being casted. However in this experience, the focus is on both the casted object and the mold. The latter represents a person's thought, mind, and mental state, and the cast represents his/her physical body.
When the concrete has just been poured into the cast, it is flexible and easy to modify like a person experiencing and learning new things. However, as time goes by, the concrete cures and solidifies, making it hard to modify. This embodies human habits that are formed by repetitive experiences and resulting in a sort of rigidity and routine.
In its final state, the mould (thoughts) and the casted object (physical body) are separated from each other, abandoning the process itself that was just experienced, creating evidence of the state of monotony.
